An amazingly crafted table that must have taken the maker countless hours of tedious work, having many directional patterns in the legs, base, and column. the top is a masterpiece of veneer work as working with bamboo is extremely difficult because it is, in this form and thickness, not flat. the top has a central double starburst pattern surrounded by eight circular patterns, each one different, the other edges appear to be a series of leaves laid end on end placed between opposing straight and diagonal veneer sections. inscribed 1868 on table bottom. this table, having been made in a French colony, took the popular style of the day (albeit several years after) and customized it with local woods and patterns
