Pair of Italian late baroque silvered giltwood frames as mirrors the rectangular frames with multiple molded surfaces is covered in lacquered silver gilt also known in Italian as "mecca," first quarter of the 18th century. Mecca surfaces combined the best of both silver and gold by using the lacquer technique, these frames with later "antiqued" mirror plates show traces of the original bole beneath the silver and lacquer and are in excellent condition.
