Of cylindrical form and constructed of two pieces of wood it is reinforced with iron bracing and decorated overall with iron scrolls and trefoils as well as bound by iron straps, the function was to provide an official measure of grain, the small piece of wood tucked in the inside seam bears an official seal, approval that the measure is correct.
