Constructed of poplar and stained a dark walnut color, the angled top section above supports terminating in trestle-form bracket feet connected by a straight stretcher. With a "head" for bridles and tack. The Lombardy poplar (P. nigra variety italica), is easily identified by its tall, narrow columnar form. The Lombardy poplar is widely used in ornamental landscape plantings, particularly among the villas of Italy and elsewhere in southern Europe; the tree derives its common name from its abundant use along the rivers of Lombardy. Height of heads is 53", height of backs is 49", width including heads 67.5", width of backs 48 inches, depth of feet 23.5", depth of back 9.5".
